Walking through fire...

You are a leader. So, would your people walk through fire for you? Do you know how to reignite the spark in someone that has lost their way? Do you care as much for your people, and their success, as you do about your own performance?

As leaders, we have goals, targets or value drivers. Whatever you call them, they're the same everywhere - they are what you are measured against, they drive your salary increases, bonuses & long-term incentives, and of course your career trajectory. They are a fact of life. A given. I love goals as much as the next person - knowing that I can objectively drive better outcomes for myself. But the truth is, seeing other people flourish feels better than just about anything else. Knowing that I have helped someone else improve themselves, fall back in love with their work, be inspired to do better, to be excellent...that's what makes me tick.

When you see a team-mate's attitude change because of something you have said. When you have made someone feel like they can do anything. When someone that was checked out, checks back in after you've mentored and coached them. When someone tells you they would walk through fire for you...wow! Now THAT feels good.

I recently received a text from someone I work with that brought tears to my eyes and took my breath away - this is what it's all about:

"Wendy, you'll never know how much you have done for all of us, me especially. I was ready to give up on all hopes and you relit that flame. For that I am forever grateful and just know that you will always have a friend in me."

Make a difference in someone's life today - it will mean the world to them, and you will get the best they have to give!

Hope you enjoyed reading.

Cheers,

Wendy
